Cancellation and Refund Policy
This policy explains how subscription cancellation, plan changes, failed payments, and refund handling work for Paper Maker, a software service operated by AksharX.
1. Billing Model
Paper Maker currently uses manual plan purchases and manual renewals. A monthly or annual plan is activated only after a successful payment. At present, the Service does not automatically charge your saved payment method for recurring renewals unless explicitly introduced in a future version.
2. Cancellation
- You may cancel an active subscription from inside the app where the cancellation option is available.
- When you cancel, your subscription status changes to cancelled, but your access continues until the end of the already-paid billing period.
- Cancellation stops future paid continuation for that plan period, but it does not reverse or partially refund the payment already completed for the current term.
3. Renewals and Upgrades
- Renewal currently requires a new checkout flow through the pricing page or the in-app upgrade and renew actions.
- If you upgrade during an active period, the new plan will apply according to the payment and activation logic then in force in the Service.
- Displayed plan price, limits, duration, and usage windows at the time of checkout govern that purchase.
4. Refunds
Except where required by applicable law, subscription fees are generally non-refundable once payment has been successfully processed and plan access has been activated. Refunds are not ordinarily provided for:
- change of mind after successful activation,
- partial use of the plan period,
- failure to cancel before the end of the paid period, or
- pricing misunderstandings where the plan details were clearly shown before payment.
5. Payment Failures and Duplicate Charges
- If a payment fails, the subscription is not considered activated unless the server-side verification succeeds.
- If money is debited but the plan is not activated due to a genuine technical issue, contact us with your transaction details for review.
- If a duplicate charge occurs for the same intended purchase due to payment-gateway or technical malfunction, we will investigate and, where confirmed, process an appropriate correction or refund.
6. Trial Plans
Free trial access does not create a refund right because no subscription fee is charged for the trial itself. Once a paid plan is purchased after the trial, the paid-plan billing and refund rules in this policy apply.
7. How to Request Billing Review
Please email the following details if you believe there has been a billing error:
- registered email address,
- transaction date and amount,
- Razorpay payment ID or order ID if available, and
- a brief explanation of the issue.

8. Consumer Rights
Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable rights available to you under applicable law. If a refund or remedy is required by law, this policy will be interpreted subject to that legal requirement.
